Are you're single this semester?

This might surprise you...

Hey friend

Are you single?

And before you reply, I’m not talking about romantically…

I’m asking if you've got at least one single course you've started reading this semester.

Because not having anyone is like grooming yourself for extreme academic pressure when exams knock. (Except of course you have all kinds of powers that would make even Indaboski shiver wherever he is.)

Now I know you're probably saying…

"But I only just resumed now."

"Lectures haven't fully started too. So what's the rush?"

"Make nobody pressure me ooo"

And you're right.😂

However, I recently discovered one little-known secret of people who consistently smash their GPAs every semester. They garner As (and very few Bs) like rich collectors...every… single… time.

  • Not because they are necessarily smart.

  • Not because they know how to 'cram' and 'pour'. (At least I've personally tried this before…and…got the answers confused in my mind…a few minutes into the tests or exams).

  • Not also because they study a lot…or…because they're friends with almost all the lecturers. So what is the special secret of these people?

Well, it's so simple you'll kick yourself for not having thought of it. But before I let you in on the secret, you should know about…

A girl in Mass Com, year 4

The name of the girl in Mass Com is Funmi Banjo and in a couple of minutes I'm going to tell you what she said to me in an amazing chat we had recently. She said:

"4 years ago, during my 200 level, I had my best semester result. But strangely enough, I never stressed myself. I didn't cram. I wasn't even pressured. Yet I did amazingly well.

Now you may ask why I'm telling you this. Well, because it happened in a period when it was hard to pick up a book to read. It was during the Covid pandemic in 2020.

My academic life was declining faster than a ball thrown into the sky. Until I discovered the simple technique that gave my dying academic life a complete "360" turnaround. It was what got me one of my best GPAs and shot my CGPA higher than I could ever think of. It is what has been helping me in my academics ever since then. Here's my not-so-secret…"

I read the not-so-secret technique and was stunned.

And amazed. I realized I used an almost similar style…and it really works. It made me wonder why I didn't think about it before. So, I took it a step further by chatting with a couple of people who get good grades… how they do it every semester…and…

Their answers are almost the same too.

You see, the reason most of your coursemates get good grades is because they read (obviously🤨). But the one thing you don't know is that they don't read twenty-four-seven like the way you've imagined them to.

Rather they find what works best for them when it comes to reading or learning. They use the VARK Model…and…double down on it during the semester. With this, they get a much clearer idea of how to help themselves to process, absorb, and memorize information. That's why you see them come out with flying colours. You go to the 'Exam notice board' and see their As stand out…like… 70, 73, 81, 85…all because they are using the one thing you're not using…

The VARK Model

Now the VARK model is not really a new concept. It dates back to about 40 years by Neil Flemming, an educational theorist – but for the most part, it doesn't get talked about often. So although they aren't NEW, they're "New to YOU!"

The acronym “VARK” stands for Visual, Aural, Read/write, and Kinaesthetic —and refers to the different learning styles we as humans have when learning new information. Not only does the VARK model make day-to-day learning easier, but you’ll also find the time you spend revising is far more effective and rewarding.

So if you would like to get better grades or perform really well this semester, you should start DATING your books and also know what learning style works well for you.
