The End of An Era
I'm Grateful
“Mummy mo ti win! mummy mo ti win o!!" 🥺
My friend…
I don't know if you've seen that my viral clip where I was chanting those words on a phone call with my mum after I won the Presidential election on May 29th, 2023.
I want to recreate that video so bad, this time around I want to chant "mummy mo ti win" so hard because being your President for 11 months makes me feel like I've won in life.
I Really Have.
The past 11 months has been a rollercoaster, I won't even lie.
In fact, as I sit down to write this,
I find myself filled with a mix of emotions — gratitude, pride, nostalgia, and a little bit of sadness.
After 11 months of serving as your departmental president, the time has come for me to pass the baton and step aside, making room for fresh leadership and new ideas.
......
When I took on this role 11 months ago, I knew it would be a challenging ride, but I could never have imagined just how much we would accomplish together.
There were times when the road was rocky, and the challenges seemed insurmountable….
But with every obstacle, we grew stronger as a team, and with every setback, we found new ways to innovate and push forward.
Together, we navigated through the ups and downs, celebrated our victories, and learned valuable lessons from our setbacks.
I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved during my tenure. All our accomplishments would not have been possible without your dedication, hard work, and passion.
This role has taught me so much — about leadership, resilience, and the power of teamwork.
I've learned that true leadership is not about making decisions alone, but about empowering others to take ownership and contribute their unique strengths.
I've learned that resilience is built in moments of adversity, and that the most meaningful achievements are those that are shared.
I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to you,
Thank you for your trust and for giving me the opportunity to lead. Your support, feedback, and encouragement have meant the world to me.
To those who may have felt overlooked or disagreed with some of the decisions made, I appreciate your patience and understanding.
I’ve learned that not every decision will please everyone, but I hope that my intentions were clear: to do what I believed was best for our department as a whole.
As I step down from this role, I do so with confidence that our department is in great hands.
I am excited to see where the next chapter takes us and have no doubt that the incoming leadership will bring fresh perspectives and new energy to continue the work we've started.
While I may no longer be serving as president, I remain deeply committed to our department's success and will continue to contribute in any way I can.
Please, feel free to reach out if you ever need support, advice, or just a friendly conversation.
With sincere gratitude and best wishes,
Your fav Presido,
Seyifunmi Soremekun.
