Farewell, MCSAites
Sometimes I sit back and wonder...
Sometimes I sit back and wonder …
“If the people who voted me were asked to rate me today, what would they say?”
Did I really make an impact? Did the Sage Council do well under my leadership?
Honestly, I know it’s not just me asking these questions. Every member of my team has probably asked themselves the same thing silently.
If you enjoyed this administration, I’m truly glad we made you proud.
If at any point we fell short, I sincerely apologize. Leadership isn’t easy, but we gave it everything we had.
Above all, I have to thank God. Abba has been my strength, wisdom, and guide. I always said, “Lord, You’re the President; I’m just representing You.” Every success we recorded is proof of His grace.
💡 What We Did Together
We started out during an online semester and focused on infrastructure:
• Built the first-ever MCSA Secretariat
• Painted railings and chairs, fixed fans & ACs in classrooms
• Renovated toilets and created a water system
• Set up the first-ever PRAD Lab
Later, we turned our focus to academics and opportunities:
• Launched the Final Year Project Digital Library
• Revamped the MCSA Digital Library
• Introduced PRASA (Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye Scholar Award) with Nancy Duffour & Channels TV
• Reimagined ADWAVE into PRADWAVE with M.inc Agency
• Held the first-ever Pitch-Your-Biz competition with LAPO Microfinance Bank
And of course, we (MCSAites) shone through Sports Week, MCSA Week, and so much more, thanks to our amazing sponsors, alumni, staff, and friends of the department.
Through all of this, my vision stayed the same: “Building a Future-Ready MCSA”. Together, we moved from department to faculty — that’s history right there.
On a personal note, I came into UNILAG as just an underdog — no connections, no reputation, just a resolve to read my books and love my school. Now, I leave as an EU–Africa Ambassador, an Erasmus Scholar, and the outgoing President of MCSA.
None of it was ambition-driven. It was God, all the way.
🌸 My Final Words to You:
Walk with God. He’s the best at directing your life.
Support the new COMSSA leaders. They’re laying a foundation no one has ever laid before. Give them grace.
Keep your books close, but also network, speak up, and grab opportunities.
And please, keep good company. The right people can shape your life more than you imagine.
This is where I drop my pen as President of the Mass Communication Students Association, UNILAG.
